and she has a few ideas. We're going to do some immune studies and a sweat test (apparently chronic sinus infections can be an indication of CF.... apparently there are many different variations of CF ranging from very mild to very severe - I didn't know that.....) We're starting him on a medication for staph in his sinuses, since that is a possibility and singulair in case it's allergy induced. She thinks there's a possibility the reflux-that's-supposedly-not-reflux could be part of the vicious cycle, so we're going to see if this course of medicine changes anything, and if not, then give prevacid a try again.
So - that's our latest course of action, as well as getting up to see the pediatric ENT at the childrens hospital.
So - wish us luck starting this new course of action, and hoping and praying that maybe, just maybe we'll be able to get to the bottom of these sinus issues......

Liking the new ped is half the battle, in my opinion! Did they do a booger culture to see what might be growing up there?
Hopefully you're on the road to answers. We'll keep our fingers crossed!
sounds about right. The immune study is good, but I found that once they get that information, you open a whole new can of worms!
A culture would have been a better bet, but the ENT might do one if he's off the antibiotics when you see them.
We also suspected reflux as part of Alex's problem (especially after he cultured out stomach bugs in his nose), but haven't really put him on meds for it. When he was on prevacid, it didn't stop the sinus infections.
I dont' think Alex has ever had a CF test. Interesting information there.
Brady is going down the path that Alex has...you can follow his footsteps in the sand! ha
come over to my blog I just posted something that will give y hope about inclusion I wonder if Andi looked at the school for Riely
I hope that the new medication will work for Brady and that these medical issues will be solved for good.
I'm praying that this will bring Brady the healing that everyone wants for him, and the peace that you need!
I loved catching up on life with Brady! I really hope this new ped is able to help unlock some medical mysteries for you and B-Boy :-).
Glad for the new ped...always good to find one! About the reflux/sinus thing...when J is sick more reflux and it is a vicious cycle. About the CF testing, very interesting. I hope you find some anwers for Brady. Love you!
Good luck, sometimes it is such a long road to finding the right answer! Hang in there!!
